Trego Lake District was created in 1989 under the authority of Wisconsin Statutes chapter 33. Its purpose is the protection and rehabilitation of Trego Lake. The District is a local unit of government. To fulfill the purposes of protecting and improving the quality of the Lake, the District has authority to enter contracts, purchase equipment, apply for grants, levy taxes and accept donations.
The Annual Meeting of the District is held every June. Residents and lakeshore owners are eligible voters. Notices for the meeting are posted, mailed and published. E-mail notices are sent to everyone who files their email address with the District Secretary.
The Annual Meeting sets the budget, elects members of the Board of Commissioners, and approves projects. The Board meets quarterly to manage District business between Annual Meetings.
Annual Meetings and Quarterly Board of Commisssioner meeting dates are on the calendar page of this website. All meetings are public and held in the Trego Town Hall.
